The First Generation of Sweetgrass Farms
The first chapter of Sweetgrass Farms begins with 10 Fullblood Wagyu females. This herd is the foundation of a long-term breeding program and the future of the ranch.

The first 10 Fullblood Wagyu females were selected to establish the ranch's breeding foundation, grow the herd over time, and shape the future beef program.

One of the most exciting parts of ranching for Chris and Camille is learning each animal's:

Daily Care and Management
- Managed intensive grazing
- Cattle moved to fresh pasture daily when conditions allow
- Attention to protein and mineral needs
- Thoughtful, low-stress handling
- Monitoring health and comfort
- Establishing a veterinary relationship in Big Timber
- Veterinary support available during calving if needed
Preparing for Calving Season
Five cows are currently pregnant, and calving is expected between September and December 2026. The ranch is preparing carefully and plans to use veterinary support if needed.
Calving timelines may change, and updates will be shared through the Ranch Journal.
