Follow the Herd From the Beginning
Our first Fullblood Wagyu herd is just the beginning. Five cows are currently expecting calves between September and December 2026, and we are excited to share the journey as the herd grows, personalities emerge, and the future of Sweetgrass Farms takes shape.
Wagyu beef is not available yet, with the first harvest expected in approximately two years. Until then, follow along for calving updates, herd stories, grazing progress, soil improvements, and behind-the-scenes moments from the ranch.

A New Ranch Journey in Big Timber
Chris and Camille did not grow up planning to become ranchers. Their journey began with a shared dream of owning land in Montana, a growing desire to understand where their food came from, and a belief that healthy soil is the foundation of everything that follows.
In January 2025, that dream became real when they purchased a 264-acre ranch in Big Timber. From there, they began building Sweetgrass Farms one decision at a time—learning the land, establishing a Fullblood Wagyu herd, and creating a long-term vision centered on family, stewardship, and thoughtful growth.
Their story is about more than starting a ranch. It is about changing direction, taking a chance on a new life, and building something they hope will last for generations.
